ROCK your practice!

Namo Namah Mitrani,

Greetings Friends,

This week I attempt to support you in totally rocking your asana practice with a short video of me practicing a sequence I call "rockin' baddhakonasana". Baddhakonasana (Bound Angle Pose) is the asana you see in the photo above. In this video I am starting from this pose, rocking from side to side, back and forth, around in circles and then seeing what other poses I can move to from there.

Check out the video Rockin' Baddhakonasana Flow (13 min)

If you feel inspired to play but not sure how to access some of these moves then take this class first: Rockin' Baddhakonasana (65 min) in the Asana Classes (one hour plus) section. It has all the instruction - plus a good standing pose preparation at the beginning - and I offer modifications if you find that useful.

In this baddhakonasana sequence we find ourselves in eka pada rajakapotasana (one leg king pigeon pose). If this is a challenging pose for you check out this short tutorial Seed poses for eka pada rajakapotasana (8 min). In our baddhakonasana sequence we are not bringing the front leg parallel to the end of the mat but working with this in the tutorial you will find some very deep opening of the outer hip which will make the pose in the sequence a breeze.

When we practice asana and explore and play with it in this way we can observe how freeing up the area of the hips frees up our energy flow. Spiraling from the seated posture to twists and using our arms and core to lift up off the floor enlivens and integrates the bodymind complex. We nourish the neuroplasticity of the brain. The mind, fully engaged in the moment, comes to a steady, focused state. We deepen our self awareness. Be sure to spend some time in savasana at the end of the practice to allow yourself to rest and integrate and perhaps journey to the depths of cellular awareness - deep space-iousness! You never know until you try it!

Happy practicing and self connection. Have a great week!

Punar milamah (we'll meet again)

Audrey
