Knee and Hip Safety in Asana Practice and Life

Namo Namah Yogis and Yoginis
This week I am focusing on keeping our knees and hips safe as we are practicing asana as well as in our daily functional movement. In this class we look closely at the placement and alignment of the feet, knees and hips to learn and integrate safe movement. This is a great practice for beginners but also an excellent refresher/reminder for continuing students. We also briefly explore shoulder and core strength. This well rounded practice finishes up with a breathing practice - a nice introduction to ujjayi pranayama, a supported backbend as a counterpose to daily life and of course - savasana.
This class Knee Safety and Hip Mobility (56 min) is in the Foundations section of the library.
I also made a shorter version of this class with music- same sequence - but less time spent instructing and simply guiding you through the practice. It's a good idea to take the longer class first to understand the alignment principles and then this is a good one to practice with on other days. Find it here: Knee Safety and Hip Mobility practice with music (36 min) in the Asana Practices less than one hour section.
I've also added a fun and refreshing practice called Rolling-Twisting-Backbending (8 min) in the Play, Explore, Create section. An excellent practice for wringing out tension and feeling wonderfully refreshed.
Take care and be well!
namaste,
Audrey
