Hydrate Your Body with Movement! (plus info for Happy Wrists)

Did you know that there is more to hydrating your body than just drinking enough water?!?! It's true. To hydrate all the tissues we need to move. Humans are made for movement. Most of our evolutionary history we have been moving. Now we do an amazing amount of sitting - sounds relaxing right? But it's not so great for us and our tissues dry out and joints, muscles and organs don't function as well. Delicious movement in all planes (backward, forward, side bending, twisting) in all parts of the body takes all the water you are drinking and sends it to all the tissues that are getting movement!
The class I've posted to the library this week will fit the bill. We move in all directions more than a few times and cover all the parts from head to toe. In addition we do some strengthening work for wrists, hips, legs and core and then we counteract daily postural flexion with a supported back arc. It is an hour well spent! You'll find the class in the Foundations section or click the link here: Hydrate with Multiplane Movement and Slide into Strength (63 min)
I give some alternatives in the class for wrists in case your wrists are not up to being on "all fours" while we work and in the description of the class I link two classes to learn more about your wrists and lots of ways to work better to keep them happy. One is an experiential anatomy exploration which will bring more awareness and understanding about your wrists Know Your Wrists! Experiential Anatomy of the Wrist (17 min). The other one is Yoga for Strong Supple Resilient Wrists (27 min) and it is a good follow up to the experiential anatomy wrist exploration to improve the flexibility, strength and resiliency of your wrists. In the class we look at how to safely bear weight on your hands in poses such as downward facing dog and planks.
I hope these offerings support you in living happier in your body and you have a great week practicing, playing and being!
