Finding Strength and Stability IN Transitions

Audrey Harpe | NOV 7, 2022

In our asana practice this week we are exploring transitions and cultivating the body awareness and strength we need to make those transitions smoothly.

One of the things I appreciate so much about asana practice is how it supports not just my body and mind but also how I function in daily life. For example, in practicing downward facing dog, headstand and handstand I feel more capable and confident in my life in general - able to gather my strength, pull myself together, hold myself up and look at things from another perspective. From my practice of supported restorative poses I find myself able to surrender tension and stay collected during stressful moments. Practicing staying attentive and balanced during the transitions between standing poses allows me to handle transitions in daily life with more skill and a bit of a playful attitude.

Our class this week is called Finding Strength and Stability IN Transitions (56 min) and you can follow this link to it or find it in the Foundations section of the library. In the class we begin with the breath - deep internal movement - then we expand outward with movements to wake up, juice up and stabilize our core and then we explore a dynamic standing sequence to playfully challenge our balance as we move. Staying playful is key! Smile as you move - stay focused and keep at it.

I hope you enjoy the play and the challenge!

See you soon - punar milamah,

Audrey
